Do you know the next Youth President?

Being Youth President is an exciting and responsible role.  The Youth President travels the UK and overseas, listening, encouraging and representing the young people of the Methodist Church, ensuring that Church leaders are aware of young people’s concerns. The role is salaried and is open to those aged 18 to 23 at 1 August 2020 who are members of the Methodist Church. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2019.

Reflect – Methodist spirituality 

Reflect, Methodist spirituality, are holding their annual conference and AGM on Saturday 19 October at Wesley’s Chapel, London. The keynote speaker will be the President of the Conference, the Rev Dr Barbara Glasson. Her talk will be followed by workshops. This event is open to all and is free of charge. Chaplaincy Everywhere

On Friday 15 November a day of pastoral care, learning and exploration for chaplains and those interested in chaplaincy takes place at Solihull Methodist Church.The day will focus on the wider story of chaplaincy. You can find out more information and book here.

Rugby World Cup – Christians In Sport

With the Rugby World Cup now underway, Christian’s In Sport have added a Rugby World Cup quiz and a film featuring the internationals Garin Jenkins, Ann O’Flynn and Jonathan Webb to their resources. You can find out how to access the materials here.

Methodist Prayer Handbook

The theme for the 2020/2021 Prayer Handbook is ‘the earth is the Lord’s’ (Psalm 24:1). Prayers are welcomed to be considered for the handbook on themes of thanksgiving, penitence, intercession and the healing of creation.

Advent offering

The theme for this years’ Advent Offering is “Homelessness & Hospitality”. At the heart of this year’s Advent Offering are the stories of people who have experienced homelessness and who are being helped by the Bristol Methodist Centre. You can download Advent resources from the Methodist Church website here. The donations collected will go towards the Mission in Britain Fund, which supports many inspiring projects across Britain.

Gemma Hunt welcomes us to Homegrown, a new conference exploring how faith is grown at home. You can join in person and online, Tuesday 8 October 2019.

Reflections

In the coming week, the 2019/2020 Methodist Prayer Handbook,
‘Responding to the Gospel’ encourages us to pray with Christians in Africa and Europe, as well as Britain and Ireland. The theme for next week’s A Word in Time Bible studies is “Words of Wisdom”. Order your Prayer Handbook here.
