Methodist Modern Art Collection

The Methodist Modern Art Collection is now open in Leicester. The Wondering Soul exhibition takes place from 2 May – 9 June. This will be the last chance to see the exhibition before it is removed from public display for several months to undergo major rejuvenation work.

Mission planning resources

The community engagement officer, Emma Nash, has curated a toolkit of mission planning resources for local churches and circuits as part of her new work supporting ‘changing, growing churches’.

Living Lent – What’s next?

Those taking part in JPIT’s Living Lent campaign have spent the last seven weeks taking action in their personal lives to tackle climate change. The Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) have provided guidelines on how we can continue to engage on climate issues.

Rise & Shine

Rise and Shine is an event for young people, aged 16 -23, chosen by their church for leadership potential. It takes place at Cliff College, 12 – 14 July 2019. Food, accommodation and transfers between the station and Cliff College are all covered in the price of £75. Email: childrenandyouth@methodistchurch.org.uk for more information.

The Gift of Legacy and Memorialisation

On Monday 3 June, Methodist Central Hall in London are holding a half-day conference, ‘The Gift of Legacy and Memorialisation: A new take on addressing pain and distress around end of life’. The event, organised by St Christopher’s Hospice, will run from 1.00pm-5.00pm at Central Hall, Westminster and will cost £30.

Discover Together
Exploring Jesus in a Jewish Context

The talk Discover Together – Exploring Jesus in a Jewish Context, will be taking place on 14 May at Hatfield Road Methodist Church. Dinner will be at 7pm and Rabbi Adam Zagoria-Moffet will be speaking at 8pm. Email  admin@midhertsmethodists.org.uk to book dinner in advance by 12pm, 9 May.

Time and Space

Time and Space is a retreat for those who work with children, young people and families. The theme is ‘Never Without a Story’ and it takes place on 24 – 25 June at Cliff College. The price is £30 and is open to all those working with children, young people and families. Booking information is available here.

Roof ‘n’ Roots

The Methodist Ministers’ Housing Society’s latest newsletter Roof ‘n’ Roots is out now. The spring issue features an article on photography by the author and photographer the Revd Dr Philip Richter; an interview with the Revd Dr Emmanuel Jacob who led students protests during the apartheid years in South Africa; and a profile on Jeff Daniels, star of the TV series ‘The Looming Tower’.

Reflections

In the coming week, the 2018/2019 Methodist Prayer Handbook, ‘A World Transformed, encourages us to pray with Christians in Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean, as well as Britain and Ireland.
