The Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) is once again taking part in Greenbelt Festival (27–30 August) for the Festival’s final time Boughton House near Kettering.
Members of JPIT have been attending and involved in the festival for several years, where the potent mix of artistry, activism and belief encourage Christians to engage more passionately and knowledgeably with the world around them.
This year, team members are leading a number of sessions:
Far Right and the Church
How can churches combat polarisation? Is there an antidote to the rhetoric, division and noise? Join us at the Table on Friday 28 August, 4-5pm.
Claude have mercy
Our intern Erica leads a workshop asking the question ‘What does it mean to be human in a world increasingly shaped by machines?’ It’s a conversation on AI (such as the ‘Claude’ AI mentioned in the title!), ethics, faith and the pace of technological change. Join us at the Hope & Anchor on Saturday 29 August, 2-3pm.
Politicians and the Church
Can churches influence their politicians without getting trapped in party politics? Why bother when their local politicians’ views are so different? Join us at the Table on Sunday 30 August, 4-5pm.
Meet up
We’ve planned an informal meet up for anyone interested in JPIT and justice seeking. This will be at the Hope & Anchor on Saturday 29 August, 3-3:30pm
A new song
And please join us for Beer and Hymns on Sunday 30 August, 1:45-2:30pm in the Canopy, for the world premiere of Steve’s new justice-centred hymn, ‘Jesus you have shown a welcome’ with a Greenbelt twist! Steve and Roo will be helping to lead this 45-minute rousing and worshipful perennial highlight of the festival.
