An Update on the 2021 Methodist Conference

29 March 2021

The Conference Arrangements Committee has reviewed its plans for the 2021 Conference in the light of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown. Given that the Government’s roadmap anticipates that no earlier than 21 June all legal limits on social contact can be removed, the Committee has decided to work towards the Conference going ahead at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole between 24 June and 1 July.

After consultation with the venue, the Committee is confident that the Conference can take place safely. There will be an option for those who are unable to travel to Birmingham to take part in the Conference online and more details about this will be released in the coming weeks.

The Committee has made the difficult decision not to hold the exhibition and fringe events which normally take place in person. It is likely that the numbers of visitors and guests will be restricted and decisions about that will be made in the coming weeks.

Further statements will be made as the Government reviews the roadmap and those personally affected by these decisions will be contacted by letter or e-mail no later than 18 April.
